Friends reunited

What a great day today has been! We spent it with our friends Pete and Diane (also from the UK originally) who we met for the first time earlier this year here in Portugal. But what a small world it is because we recently discovered that:

1. Diane went to the same school as my sister;

2. She lived and worked a few streets from where we lived; and

3. Her parents were in the Salvation Army (so are mine) at Thornton Heath next to where I spent 20 years and so we had people we knew in common.

What are the chances of that? Amazing.

We had a wonderful day at their farm with its stunning views. We even came home with a new kennel for Joey somehow!

We got back just in time for me to log on for the online reunion of my graduating class from my school where I grew up in Korea. Incredibly it was 40 years ago but the memories are etched deeply. It was a wonderful childhood growing up there. Most of us lived thousands of miles across the oceans from our relatives (and now live thousands of miles from each other) so for me, this close knit school and missionary community was the closest we got to an extended family. Even all these years on, it still feels like family seeing everyone and the ties run deep. I feel very privileged.
